Almost a scoreless draw for Bayern Munich; The Red Devils boring feat against Marseille ended with a scoreless draw

A goal from Mario Gomez in the 90th minute handed Bayern Munich a 1-0 win over Inter Milan at the San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup.

With the game seemingly headed for a scoreless draw, Bayern’s Arjen Robben fired a shot on target that Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar saved but failed to hold.

Gomez was on hand to pounce on the rebound and he rolled the ball into the empty net, handing the German side a 1-0 advantage ahead of the return leg in Munich on March 15 in a rematch of last season’s Champions League final.

Inter’s Esteban Cambiasso had a point-blank shot saved by goalkeeper Thomas Kraft, while Bayern went close with Franck Ribery’s header hitting the top of the crossbar.

The home side then created a good chance for Thiago Motta as a corner kick found him unmarked in front of goal, but he headed straight at Kraft.

And Bayern made him pay for the miss late on as Gomez fired home the rebound from Robben’s shot.

The other match saw Manchester United and Marseille play to a 0-0 draw in France.

Neither goalkeeper was very busy during the match and it sets up an interesting second leg at Old Trafford on March 15.
